HOW TO KEEP YOUR WHITE TOWELS WHITE
Keeping or maintaining our white towels clean is not always an easy thing yet it is very easy to wash but because we have maybe just one or two we struggle with maintaining the white. Today, we will educate on how to keep your towels clean, maintain quality, color with and/ or without a washing machine.
What to note now; “NEVER HAVE ONLY ONE TOWEL; TWO IS GOOD, THREE IS BETTER AND ABOVE FOUR IS GREAT” (whether they are of different colors, always have more than two towels). The reason for this is simple, they serve as backup while you wash the dirty one(s) and also the quality, color of your towels are guaranteed (regular towel wash or any cloth reduces texture, quality and gets faded).
Most importantly never use your white towel for so long without washing. The risk of long lasting stains and the difficulty in washing sets in. It is recommended two weeks of use then you wash.
A. WITH A WASHING MACHINE
This are for those fortunate enough to own machines. There are a few things to note before washing and some steps to take.
- First, prepare your washing machine. You want to make sure your machine is very clean and has no dirty water residuals in it or anything that could stain your towel. Hence, rinse your machine very well before undertaking the washing of whites.
- Hand pick your towels and treat those with particular stains separately before mixing with the others.
3. Put your towels in the machine.
4. Press the water button or Insert water.
5. Add your detergent (based on our location: Cameroon — Ariel, Madar), add some vinegar and some bleach “Eau de Javel” (“Eau de Javel” is based on our location — Cameroon).
6. Allow to wash for 30–45 minutes, then rinse.
Now, in Cameroon you will hardly find the right product to wash your whites effectively. Even some of your pressings do not have the right product; so they proceed this way:
7. Get a bucket, add enough water, a great quantity of bleach based on numbers of towels. Add your detergent then soak your towels in it for at least 12 hours. (Note: This process is very important given that we are washing locally. Also, while using this process consider the kind of machine your have. If you machine can heat your water while your towels wash then soak your towels in cold water for 12 hours but if not then soak your towels in hot water for 12 hours).
However, it is best to soak your towels in hot water for that length of time.
8. After 12 hours, rinse your towels and repeat pt 3–5.
9. Now if your machine can heat your water while washing then once you have done pt 3–5 then you allow for 15 minutes then turn on the hot button and allow for 10 minutes before turning off. Now if your machine can heat your water while washing then simply allow for 45 Minutes to wash.
10. Afterwards you allow again for 20 minutes then you can remove, rinse and dry.
B. WITHOUT A WASHING MACHINE
- First, prepare your bucket of water.
- Hand pick your towels and treat those with particular stains separately before mixing with the others.
- Add your detergent (based on our location: Cameroon — Ariel, Madar), add some vinegar and some bleach “Eau de Javel” (“Eau de Javel” is based on our location — Cameroon).
- Soak for 12 hours before washing and/or brushing then later rinse well
Now, in Cameroon you will hardly find the right product to wash your whites effectively. Even if you did most of these products are advised not to come in direct contacts with the hand.
5. Furthermore, heat water and put in your bucket then repeat pt 3. (Note: This process is very important given that we are washing locally and we want the best possible results).
6. Soak again for 12 Hours before washing again.
7. Rinse well and dry.
Follow these steps carefully and always make use to use the best detergents available in your area or environment so as to get effective and efficient results.
Lastly vinegar should always be white vinegar. Vinegar is also used to eliminate odor from your towels, allowing or giving it a decent scent after laundry while maintaining its color.
